Amir khan Bollywood film fraternity, when you talk about the word perfection the first name that comes to our mind is Aamir Khan. We all are big admirers of his craft and his courage to take on risks to play diverse difficult characters. He is considered to be the game changer and trendsetter in Bollywood. The star is turning 50 on March 14. Amitabh Bachchan has already wished him quoting “Welcome to the club”. For all Aamir Khan fans (I am sure there plenty of them), below are 50 interesting lesser-known facts of this immensely loved and universally followed genius :
1. Everyone remembers the famous stunt in the movie ‘Ghulam’ of running on rail tracks towards an oncoming train. Aamir Khan missed the train by a mere 1.3 seconds as he jumped off the track. It won the Best Scene Award at the 44th Filmfare Awards, but he later disapproved of himself for taking the dangerous risk

2. In the debut movie ‘Holi’, you can see Aamir in a very short haircut. Just before shooting the movie, Aamir had shaved his head and had gone bald as a reaction after break up with his girlfriend then. Interestingly, director Ketan Mehta liked the look for his character and started shooting.

3. Aamir feels that ‘Fanna’ and ‘Ishq’ are the only two hit movies that fell a little short of his expectations. The scripts didn’t quietly translate onto the screen as he visualized them to



4. Aamir is the first one in the industry among popular actors, who started the trend of doing one film at a time. He has had approximately 40 releases only till date in a career of 27 years, compared to SRK & Salman who have 80 +, but is at par in popularity with them

6. The climax scene of the movie ‘Ghulam’ was shot over 10 to 12 days. It is a fight scene where Aamir gets beaten a lot by the villain. Aamir ends up getting a lot of blood and dirt on this face. Aamir did not take bath for those 12 days to maintain the accuracy and consistency of the look on his face

7. Very few people remember Aamir khan appeared in the only music video for the song ‘Jab Bhi Choom leta hoon’ by Roopkumar Rathod in the year 2003

8. Back to the Future inspired science fiction fantasy flick ‘Time Machine’ starring Aamir Khan, Raveena, Naseeruddin Shah & Rekha was shelved in 1992. Majority of film shooting was completed but the movie got shelved in post-production before Shekar Kapur packed his bags for Hollywood

9. Aamir Khan was offered to play the role of ‘Sid’ in Dil Chahta Hai. However, Aamir was excited by Aakash’s character and expressed his interest to play that role. The rest is history:)

10. Khan was invited to have a wax imitation of himself put on display at Madame Tussauds in London in 2007. However, Khan at that time was busy shooting Taare Zameen Par. He declined politely to avoid any distractions. Such is the focus of this artist

10. Raju Hirani wanted Aamir to play the role that Shraman Joshi played in 3 Idiots. However, Aamir was keen to play the character of ‘Rancho’ and we all have seen the results 🙂

We missed the golden chance to see the stars together!

18. Another opportunity missed to see the duo together was for the movie ‘Josh’. Chandrachur Singh’s role was offered to Aamir. But by then he was keen to play diverse characters after being fed up of playing chocolate hero romantic roles and disagreed to be part of the movie

19. SRK & Aamir Khan have appeared together in a cameo friendly appearance in one scene in the movie ‘Pehla Nasha’ directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. It is the only time in the history of Indian cinema the two stars are together in one frame in a movie

Finally, though, Amol Gupte was the one who suggested that Khan should direct the movie as he was sure only Aamir could do justice to a subject so close to his heart


44. Whenever Aamir sits for a narration of a subject/script of a movie, he requests his directors to just narrate him the story without letting him know the character they would like him to play. After listening to the subject, he expresses his desire to play the character he likes to portray
